A Tale of Two Cities is a project shot in Shanghai and Hongkong during several consecutive years with a Minolta X-700 film camera and a Bronica sq-ai medium format camera. I measured the city with my foot and built a visual archive of these two fast-developing cities. The old buildings were torn down as well as the collective memories of an older generation. Tears are shed and departures are forced. We left behind the past without a proper goodbye. The project takes a step back, stops to gaze at the ever-changing surrounding environment, meanwhile deals with the challenge of how we ground ourselves in this relationship and how we look, at ourselves, and the outside world.
