I Should Use A Language Not To Be Betrayed traced back to a car crash and a strange encounter. Consisting of quasi-forensic scans and documents, snapshots taken during a road trip with dates, and monologues from unreliable narrators, this lens-based project implies the collapsing hierarchy between the experienced and the reconstructed. The sequence mirrors the contradiction of photography as on one hand, the most convincing and on the other hand, the most ambiguous when torn from the context.
This title comes from a poem by Edward Thomas, who was killed on the battlefield of WWI. A telegram announcing his death is included in this project, together with a polaroid, typed notes, handwritten letters, and silkscreens, which are all transformed into inkjet prints, flattened and archived, establishing a shifting sign system where meanings are constantly generated and regenerated, inviting the viewers to look into the details and investigate what those pixels translate into.
