Single Channel Video, 2019, 2 min
Eatable is a parodic, tongue in cheek short video which pays homage to Bruce Nauman’s photograph Eating My Words (1966-67) as well as a result of constant reflection on failure inherent in art-making and consumption. In the Photograph, the word “words” was literally shaped out of bread and was being eaten by Bruce Nauman. The video is meanwhile a literal representation of "eating the eatable parts of words”. The deadpan or, emotionless performance contrasts with the ridiculousness or absurdity of the behavior itself, which is typically viewed as unconventional or unsettling.
